Biological doors

Biological sliding doors are situated in EPM and EPO pools, which are used for transfer of irradiated samples from / to the reactor. It consists of solid part (girder embedded in concrete) and two sliding door leafs. Doors are used for shielding of air gap, which is between hot cells bottom and water level, during transportation of radioactive material from / to the cells (experimental equipment, spent fuel rods, etc.). Sliding doors are moving on rails fixed on girder and they are partially submerged in pools.


Vertical connection of cell ECR

Vertical connection allows to join the container on bottom of transmission element in cell ECR and to transport components between container and cell ECR. This interface is main transport route for fuel elements and radioactive material from / to the cells or reactor. Entire system consists of container joining interface, circular transmission through floor (transmission is embedded in concrete), shielded doors (with biological shielding function) which are moving on rails and sealing doors which are opened by the winch. Shielding is ensured with lead bricks placed in block of shielded doors. Additional shielding is provided by stainless steel plate, placed under the worktop.


Trapdoors

Trapdoor allows entry of experimental devices, waste containers, nuclear fuel grids and radionuclides from the reactor pools into the big cells. Trapdoor must meet seismic class SI and it is part of hot cells containment.


Transferring tunnel between big cells

Transferring tunnel is placed in walls between big cells. It allows simple sample transfer between neighbouring cells with the aid of remote manipulators. Tunnel is equipped with the cart and identical doors in each cell. Front side of cart is hinged due to easy inserting of transported material. Door is equipped with the latch.


System of material transfer

System of material transfer is placed in hot cells and rear zone of hot cells. It enables transport of small-sized material with dimension limit up to 400 mm in diameter from rear zone into big cell. This transfer is placed in cells ECE and ECM. It consists of upper entry element, transfer pipe and lower entry element. Upper and lower doors are connected to control panel. Both doors must be never opened in the same time.


System of mechanical transfer

Cells ECM and ECD as well as ECE and ECC are connected with mechanical transfer called as “toboggan”. This equipment allows transfer samples, dosimeters and cart of tube post. It consists of upper entry elements in ECM and ECE, transfer pipe and lower entry elements in ECC and ECD. Sample dimensions are limited by pipe diameter (maximal diameter of sample is 125 mm and length 600 mm). Sealed doors are equipped with electromagnetic lock.
